McMurtrey CFO Books is led by Faith and Trent McMurtrey, a husband-and-wife team with over 25 years running their own businesses. Faith handled 150+ real estate transactions and co-owned a health center. Trent built and sold multiple businesses after serving as an Army officer and earning his Executive MBA. We're located in Bozeman and serve businesses throughout Montana.

We've been where you are. Faith knows what it's like to juggle books while trying to close deals. Trent's built companies from scratch and knows exactly what financial information you need to grow or sell. Together, we provide both bookkeeping basics and CFO-level strategy.

How do I share my documents and statements with you?

We use a secure app for all document sharing. It’s a simple process, and we guide you through the setup during onboarding.

Do we need to meet in person?

No. We operate as a virtual firm, which allows us to serve Montana businesses efficiently and keep our services more affordable. Everything is handled remotely.

Do I need to buy QuickBooks?

Yes, we work in QuickBooks Online (QBO). It's about $30/month and gives you easy access to your financials. We'll help you get set up and teach you what you need to know.

How do we work together each month?

You upload bank statements and receipts through our secure app (we'll show you how). We handle everything else.

Do you file taxes?

No, we don't file taxes. We keep your books organized the way CPAs need them. Your CPA won't have to fix our work before filing. We work with good, local CPAs and can connect you with one.

Do you handle payroll?

Yes. We process payroll, handle tax deposits, file quarterly 941s, and manage year-end W-2s.

How much work is this for me?

After initial setup, maybe 15 minutes a month uploading documents. That's it. We handle the rest.

When can you start?

We can typically start within a day of our first call. If your books need cleanup work, we begin there. If they're current, we jump right into monthly bookkeeping.
